Here's a "Road Story" For You!

« on: June 30, 2006, 11:38:54 AM »
It was conceived in the head of a brilliant German engineer . . . born in Nazi Germany as a child of Hitler's propaganda machine . . . all but killed in it's infancy by allied bombings . . . laughed at by the "serious" automotive society and grew up an outcast red-headed step child before being adopted by the "counter-culture" . . . and finally grew up to be the most beloved car in the world. It's hard to believe, but today marks the third anniversary of the last Volkswagen Beetle rolling off the assembly line! May it enjoy a long, active, and well-deserved retirement!

Amen to that Zen.  Has anybody notice the increase of Bugs and Vans/Westys on the the roads here lately ? I have been helping Jim Lockhart out with some air-cooled jobs the past few weeks and everyday that I drove to his shop I kept seeing more and more of these "Critters" on the road. Most of them I didn't recognize.  Some restored, some rolling wrecks. Hmmmmm !   :-k
