Ok, I seem to get the engine straightened out and some MORON backs into my beetle today at work.  The IDIOT didn't stop, didn't leave any info and took off.  We do not have cameras, so I don't have a clue as to who did it.  Insurance is going to send over an adjuster, any one ever had to file a claim with Hagerty?
I was in such a rush to get out the door and get to school that I didn't notice it.  I stopped to get gas and someone asked me what I did to my bumper, look at the front and the bumper, (new) is twisted up with a nasty bend at the bracket.  The bracket is bent on the driver's side.  It bent the driver's fender, and has put a 6 inch hotdog bun sized dent on the hood.  I am concerned about where the bumper brackets bolt onto the body, I have some original undercoating has popped off, I think that it has a ripple at the spot....
I need minimal: a bumper, hood fender, bumper brackett and posiblly a straightended inner fender.
My policy is an agreed value policy and I a afraid that they will want to total the car.  This is sad.
I'll know more tomorrow.
I hate the big truck driving IDIOT who just drove over my beetle because they are just a .............
I think that the front isn't that bad, but those pieces are bent.  The worst is the bumper, it makes me sick.
SICK - SICK - SICK and PO'ed.
I am going to attempt to find out all the visitors that signed in during the afternoon and look them up.
My insurance company is interested in them as well.
take care.
I hope that your day is going better than mine.

Well crap KC, that is terrible. I don't see how people could live with themselves after doing that and driving off.

I don't have any experience with Hagerty or any other insurance agency really, but my guess is even though you have an agreed upon value with them they will more likely try to stick with the blue book value of the car, which is probably a lot less. It's up to you to prove the worth of the car, and I'd start right now by compiling eBay auctions, Craigslist ads, and The Samba ads for cars similar to yours. If you saved any receipts from major work done to it, I'd copy those for them too. Anything that would help establish the car is worth the agreed upon value. Try and get an estimate on replacement parts as well to help determine the cost of repair too.

Hopefully you can get a lead through the visitor's log and track down who did it. Keep us updated.

I was straight up with the insurance company when I set the policy up, so the agreed value is a massive $3500.  They stated that if the repairs are going to be 75% of the agreed value that they would total it out and give me the opprotunity to purchase it back at the salvage value.  I am going to see what the apraiser states when they see the bug.  I am quite sure that the inner fender is bent..... :(
Went throught the list and there is a possibility is that a vendor's auto might have hit my VW.  I'm following up on that.
Have a great day....

I can't help in the paint department, but can assist with the panel replacement, welding, straightening, priming, etc. if yoiu get to that point,...
Sucks, though.  My ex used to have an 02 jetta that someone hit while she was in the mall one day.  She came out and, while walking toward the car, noticed that the right front fender was crushed in and the bumper was hanging off too.  Nobody in sight, etc.
Fixed it myself to keep from filing on my insurance that needed a $500 deductible.

So what if they total it?  They give you $3500 and you buy it back for salvage cost?  It sounds like it can be fixed for a whole lot less than $3500 if you go about it right (not dropping it off at high volumn body shop).  You'll loose the clean title, but you might come out on the winning end otherwise.  It still sucks that someone would hit it and drive off . . . but then, there was a story on the news last night about a pick-up truck hitting a 3 year old boy and dragging him down the street.  He finally slowed down just enough for the kid to get loose from the truck then he took off.

Yep,
I guess it is all realative.  If someone ran over my Savy I would hunt them down and run over them and drag them all the way to the "Po-Lice".
I'm from them there mountians, and we don't take to lightly to being messed with....
As my brother in law has been known to say, "I know someone you can hire to cut 'em...."

Wow that sucks.
My policy is agred value as well and I think mines at $10k. Sometimes when I'm mad at it I think about parkin on a hill with the ebrake off.
Rick can do miracles for your car for the panel reapais. I know a guy out in Rhea county that could paint it up for ya resonable no bs prices and good work.

GOT 'EM :D
Talking to a traveling Corporate engineer that travels from plant to plant, he just happened to be standing in the lobby and saw my beetle shimmy.  He thought it was someone trying to start it and looked to see who's it was.  He saw a vendors truck pulling away and no driver, since I was parked facing away from him, he didn't see the dammage.  But I have called the Vendor and ASBUG is getting a complete repaint out of the deal.
They were very upset at their driver and he has been disiplined ect.  I have already turned it in on my insurance and to keep from putting it on their insurance, they said that they would take my parts that I have ordered and have them installed, the body straightened and have the ENTIRE car painted and install the new winshield and gasket and put in a new gasket on the back.
They said that I would be pleased....
We'll see.

Way to go :D. Most people would have just let it go and let the insurance take care of it. Take matters into your own hands and get er done =D>
