Our club camp out was this past weekend and I have to say the weather was perfect and the scenery at Fort Mountain was beautiful. We had a great time camping with everyone who were able to make the campout. As some of you know Mack had a bit of trouble. For those of you who didn't get to make it here is the story:
Friday we had already packed the bus and was planning on pulling a trailer with our bikes and some wood. It then dawned on me that there was never a trailer light hook up installed on the bus. So we had to drive the Toyota also in order to bring the trailer.
We then headed out and was cruising along making good time. We got to Chatsworth and started heading up the mountain. The bus was doing great very rarely did I have to drop down into 3rd. We were about 4 miles out and hit a steeper grade. I pushed the clutch in and SNAP! The pedal went to the floor and I had no clutch. So I jammed it in third and tried to keep on moving. Not many places to stop on the side of the road going up Fort Mountain. So I had to grind it a bit to get up to the office where it came to a stop. At that point we hooked the trailer up to the bus and the bus up to the Toyota with a tow rope. Crystal pulled me on to the campsite. When we got to the campsite Lamar, William, and myself tried pushing it in to its campsite. Crystal was steering. Well It felt like we were pushing a 18 wheeler. We gave a couple heev hoos and just couldn't hardly budget. I had Crystal check to see if it was in gear and sure enough it was in 2nd gear . ](*,) So we get into position and got it set up for camping.
Knowing I would have to get up early to set out in search for parts. I crawled under the bus and started wrenching. Sure enough the clutch cable had broke loose at the pedal lever attachment. Of course I had a new cable, but it was at home. Saturday morning we got up and set out to get the needed parts. I first stopped at American Foreign in Dalton. Unfortuately he only had a 68 and up cable and it was a few inches too long. So we decided to drive back home and get the one I already had. We got back to the campsite and I reinstalled the new cable and got it adjusted.

Sunday we got up and enjoyed the crisp fall morning. Eventually we started packing up and was getting ready to have our cookout at the pavillion. So we all pulled out of our campsites and start heading toward the lake. I shifted into 1st and then 2nd, everything felt good. Then I shifted into 3rd. As I started to let the clutch out I heard that dreaded sound that makes you cringe everytime it happens. So I depressed the clutch again just in case I didn't shift it into third well. I jigggled the shifter and shoved it back up into 3rd again. Once again that horrifing sound! :-s
So I tried 4th and it was fine. So after the picnic we headed home without 3rd gear. As we traveled home and had to stop and go I noticed it was getting harder and harder to get it shifted into 4th without too much grinding. Well we made it home! [-o<
I called Godfather for a few pointers and what the best route would be to fix the problem. With his advise and knowing I don't want my bus on down time for long, I headed straight to the basement and started wrenching. 3 hours later: engines out, Transaxles out.
And Thanks to Godfathers quick searching =D> , I will have a great replacement sooner than I thought!
Look out Zen, I think I'm starting to catch you
