It is never a good feeling when the car looses power. You know the feeling, you go from purring along to praying that you'll make it to the next exit on the interstate in about 2 heart beats.
The phases of denial for loosing power are:
1) Did I just immagine that?
2) Did my foot slip?
3) Is the little roller off the back of the gas pedal?
4) Am I just in a strong headwind?
It has been clinically shown (by me) that it takes approximately 5 seconds to realize that you truly are fireing off only 3 cylinders and that flooring the car now only makes the speedo register 68 mph instead of the 85+ that it normally does, (not that I would do that sort of thing...)
Any way... This happened to me today between Ga 151 and Battlefield Parkway this morning. I got the car off the interstate and turned around and drove home. When I got home I pulled the lid up and didn't see the plug ejected out of the head as I had expected, hey I'm a pessimist at heart.
Phase 2 was to pull spark plug wires off one by one untill I found the culprit. Guess what....... it was #3, big surprise. So I reach back to pull off the spark wire from the plug and it wasn't even on!!!!!
The new wires I had put on the day before wasn't properly seated and had wiggled off. Any way Put it on and puttered on to work, I was 30 min late, but I have an understanding boss.
I am just happy it wasn't a cracked head or a blown out plug....
It could be worse.
