Man Rescues Grandkids After Beetle Swept Away

Flood waters on McCutcheon Road in Chattanooga swept a car away with a grandfather and his grandchildren inside.
Thankfully they were able to get out of the car unharmed, despite the pressure of the flood waters.
The family tells us they were in town from Memphis for their annual reunion.
That's when the water actually carried their car feet away.
The 1974 Super Beetle they were driving was destroyed.
However, everyone is safe, warm, and happy now.
Thomas Yates, Rescued his Grandson, "I had to pick both of them up with one arm and push out to get them to the street. "
His grand son says, "I wanted to get out of the water, that's why I was crying."
