Since I thought it was just a drain plug,  I did not torque it down tight. 

you don't torque the drain plugs down tight? You might be leaking from there too

the carb seems to be cutting out due to lack or fuel.  I looked into it and most folks replace the 29 year old fuel pump.  I decided it needed a good hosing.  Took the pump off.  hooked up the garden hose and did some fuel pump orifice blasting. Stuck it back to gether  and found these 2 stow aways under the storage compartments.  spooky.   rx7 did not cut out today when I drove it hard. Sweet  SC

better than the ones i found that were still ripe, in the cowl of a jetta, made for a stinky car

Yeah... it wil be a while before i forget that smell.
