« on: January 23, 2010, 10:51:10 AM »
My Bro brought me a $500 chevy 96 lumina from Boston this week  for my Daughter
The chevy v6 runs rough till warmed up
It gets going but stumbles a bit till the engine warms up.

What do ya think it is.  SC

He should have left it there. I thought your brother liked your Niece more than that. What happened to the Volvo deal ? With the batting average being what they are with our Kids and cars today, I would put her in something that she would at least have a chance of not getting injured .  You know, something like a Abrams M-1 A-1  or a Volvo wagon. You can ask me why I know this sometime.

Oh !  On the up side of  having the Chevy, Bubba and BillyBob down at the car wash/ Pep Boys should be able to tape and sheet metal screw that thing together cheaper than the Volvo.  Stranger things have happened at sea and so be it in the "Triangle"

I believe I would put a contract out on your Bro.  He got the better deal in the long run. Sure things wear out on Volvos but if you replace the worn out part with good stuff you are good to go for another 10 years on at least that part.
I just traded our '92 Volvo 240 wagon with a little over 200,000 miles for a V70 Volvo wagon . I added up the repair cost on that '92 and found that I had spent  a little less than $250 in the 10 years I owned it.  Of course this does not include normal service stuff .

$500 and it runs rough cold, but runs good once it's warmed up?   :-k   Give it a few extra minutes to warm up!  I've been looking for something cheap for my daughter to drive back and forth to her Wally World job . . . I haven't found anything that would make a trip from Boston to LaFayette for under a grand.

I read that it has like 6 O2 sensors.  That one thing I'll try to check.

The other idea is something with the dist cap and wires etc.   This on is like a shoe box  with 8 hex nuts I need to remove.  I read a trick that you spray water mist around the cap while it runs in the dark and look for sparks.
