When I turn it over.
I smell gas at manifold,  not sure if I have spark
it turns 2-3 times and bogs to a stop.  turn key again and it repeats
Seems like it gets to a compression stroke and the valves are closed
The timing belt is 8 months old and through the cover it does not seem stripped.
Any idea's?  SC

Answer is always involving Aluminum, duct tape and a cookie sheet.

If you tensioned it correctly it should last years and 30 or 40 thousand miles,  unless you put a used one on it or got a defective one

Didn't think of that.  Is the battery dead?

Rare to have all the injectors go bad,  but maybe the wires and ECM that give them the signal,  simple as a blown fuse,  volvos have been famous for there shorted fuse panels

Discovered a neat test that runs the fan then injectors and the fuel pump..  The fuel test did not work...I stuck some paper in the fuel pump relay and the fuel pumps ran.   Huray!  Volvo. Still did not start. Or even fire a little. Arrrg

Took off fan belt and time belt cover.   Yep.  The belt marks never line up.   Looks like the belt stretched and I should have reset the idler pulley to take out slack.   Bummer .  Belt looks ok,   Should I re use it?   Sc

The marks will only line up once,  when you install the belt, unless it was so loose you could slide it off by hand I doubt it slipped

It should be pretty snug,  I am surprised the belt stretched
