The other thing i notice is there is slurp sounds as the fuel pump builds pressure when the ignition is turned on .    I guess it loses pressure when  turned off.

Turn the engine off and restart 20 seconds later , it makes the slurp.

 full gas tank

I think that just makes it harder to start or maybe that means something else

It looks like I'm low on ATF,  Would Low ATF make it studder in between gears?  It really studders from 3rd to OD.  Would that be useful.  Would it make the car seem to bog down?

I like the Lucas trans treatment,  does wonders,  some used to swear by slick 50,  seen it make a Volvo that wouldn't go into overdrive work again

I always figured the trans would slip out gear and down shift.  This seems like the engine wont spin when you push the pedal.  I drained the atf and maybe a quart came out,  I should have measured it.  I added 2.5 quarts.  I cant wait to drive it this morning.

If a car is low of ATf would the transmission put any load on engine in neutral?

My next theory is that a motor mount is bad.  the shift lever seems to kick a bit at times.    SC

I found some connector under the throttle that the pins pulled out of the connector  and thought eureka,  Yes the connector is broke but the wires are connected and it did not fix any thing.

The Added Atf seems to have helped but it feels like it is either engine miss in Overdrive or it is transmission slip.  It feels like a quick stutter.  Mostly under load it, going up hill,  engine act like a wimp , rpms dont increase,  then click, engine rpms increase and transmission downshifts and all is fine to climb the hill

Sometimes i get a loopy idle and sometimes I get a smooth idle,  when I get the loopy Idle I can shut off engine, pull ECU fuse for a while,  and engine runs fine for a bit

Before you start brazing . . . make sure there is no gas left in the hose. Flames and gas don't mix.  Well, actually they mix well, but the result isn't always pretty.  Don't ask me how I know this.   ;)

How high is the fuel pressure?  I don't know that I would trust a brazed up rust hole in a high pressure fuel line.  That doesn't mean I wouldn't try it, I just wouldn't trust it.  I think I'd opt for a junk yard part if you can't get it new.

Ask Frank, I think he knows!

when i finally got it started,  it blew a half gallon of gas on my starter fluid man's leg from  the muffler.  I told Frank he ought to put that cigarette out fast.

I tried to solder the hole with torch and it did not stick.  I did find the part  for 55 bucks so I bit the 55 bullet and got it.  Maybe a fuel line leak was what was making car act crazy.

Fuel leak not good,  doesn't matter how the car runs if it is burnt to the ground,  the also have an in tank transfer pump,  you need to make sure it is working and the small fuel line that connects it is side the tank has not rotted out

Wow  close call today.   a bolt broke that holds the pump under the car,  so I drilled a hole so I could secure it with wire.  I drill a hole under the seat.  when I fish the wire thru,  I discover a box that could only be the volvo's brain under the seat.  OMG!, Luckely  the hole was a inch to the left.  whew!,   Car runs,  no leaks,  engine still acts funny but it drives.  maybe it will straighten itself out.  SC
