« on: December 05, 2011, 01:08:32 PM »
my brother bought a 1980 honda civic, it had been sitting for a year, they fired it up and drove it up to the house, then proceded to hook the jumper cables up backwards, not hard since the po had red cable for neg and black for positive, and now the car has no spark, have power to the coil and a signal from the dist,  i have fuel and it seems to be flooding, i need to find a honda machanic with some old car experience, anydoby know anything about these?

Does it have Elect. Ignition?
My 1st car was a '78 CVCC civic and I cut alot of teeth on Hondas (no hatin!)
It sounds like you either fried the elect Ign. or there is a fuse / fused wire that is fried in the iginition system.  (the '78 had points and a carbie.)

I think I saw an older manual at my dad's house last week for late 70s/ early 80s hondas. I will look for it and see if it covers Civics. I know he had an accord at some point but it might just be!
