What's a 1936 LaSalle 2 Door Coupe Worth?

« on: February 13, 2013, 02:13:51 PM »
I'm thinking about going to the antique auction in Summerville tomorrow night.  One of the more interesting items they have up for auction this time is a 1936 LaSalle 2 door coupe.  It looks to be pretty much original and in great condition but it also looks like it's been sitting a garage for many, many years.  I've always loved the look of pre-WWII cars.  I don't need it, don't have room for it and can't afford it . . . but that's never stopped me before if it goes cheap enough.  The main problem is I don't have a clue what cheap enough is.  Anyone have any idea on it's value?

I looked on ebay, but there isn't one...so no luck there.
I checked NADA on the web at nadaguides.com
NADA shows the following low retail amounts for a driver in usable condition.
2 door coupe $19,100
2 door touring sedan $13,500

That's a daily driver. One that won't run with unknown history should be quite a bit less.
Sure is a neat old car though...

I've seen 'em run a few cars through this auction and they have always went low.  I don't really see it bringing more than 2 or 3 grand at this auction IF it runs.  The more I think about it, the more I think I need to skip the auction tomorrow.  I might end up with a big chunk of lawn art and no money left in my roof repair fund.  But yeah, it is a neat old car!

She wouldn't mind going to the antique auction for Valentine's day.   ;D   However, if I started bidding on an old LaSalle, it might end up ranking up there with the Valentine's day that I took her to Wal-Mart to get front tires put on the Dasher.   :o   For some reason, she didn't find that very romantic at all.   ::)

You can put a Chevy v8 in anything,  if it doesn't run
