Trailer Tires Needed

« on: December 28, 2010, 07:31:48 PM »
I've got a couple of folks who have emailed me looking for tires for their Besco folding trailer.  Mine are "OK" but are showing a little bit of dry-rot, so before I put this trailer on the road at highway speeds, I probably need a set myself.  They are 3.5" x 8" and need to be capable of highway speeds.  Scooter tires maybe?   ???  If anyone knows where these tires can be found, I'll spread the word.

Scooter tires, they are!  We have 2 in stock right now, $40 each.

I've had two different people email me about tires, and I've seen a thread on the samba about these trailers and the question about tires came up there too . . . somebody on that thread suggested Coker's but they didn't have anything that would fit.  These trailer's are pretty rare, but they are 30 years old and all seem to need tires and no one seems to be able to locate any.

What's your shop's phone #?  I'll see if can send you some business.

Never mind on the phone # . . . I forgot about this thing called the internet and search engines.  Took about 2 seconds for me to find it.  ;)   Anyway, I posted Scenic City Scooter's address and # on the thread on theSamba and emailed it to the two people who had contacted me asking about tires.

I should have kept the secret stash of tires to myself . . . one guy was ready to sell his trailer for $200 if he couldn't find tires. He just sent me an email --

I bet Kathy and Hugh could "opps we sent you the wrong size; we don't have the size you wanted" if you offer to pay $20 more per tire! That would only cost you a little over $300 after buying the guy's trailer

I'm still trying to save up the money to put tires on the one I've already got! My Harley golf cart needs tires too.  So does Homer.  I'm still trying to get over putting tires on my S-10 and Single Wheel trailer (the tube for the single wheel cost twice what the tire did  :o  ).  I don't need anything eles that rolls and needs tires.    :)

Of course, that's never stopped me before . . .  ;D   ;D   8)

And I've got to give credit where credit is due.  I would have never thought about asking about scooter tires on my own . . . Mike suggested that those looked like scooter tires when I had the trailer at Wally's one evening.
