Witnessed a wreck tonight

« on: September 01, 2006, 02:27:36 AM »
I was on my way home from Moose's house tonight (Thursday).  I was on Graysville Road, and I had just crossed the railroad tracks and was heading toward East Brainerd Road, coming up to Graysville Church of Christ (or whatever church that is on the left) when I saw this white Honda coming towards me at a high rate of speed.  Since it was on the outside of the curve and I was on the inside, the velocity was pulling her away from me and into the ditch.  She was just about even with me when she hit the ditch and flipped over and came to rest upright.
I pulled over in the church parking lot and called 911.  In a few minutes the police showed up, and soon the paramedics arrived.  In the meantime, though, another car had stopped to check on the driver, and was rear-ended by another car.  A truck that was behind the car stopped and told me that he saw her just leave The Sports Page, a sports bar on East Brainerd Rd.  There is a good possibility that she was a little drunk.
What is weird is that I said to Trey that the car was going too fast and was probably going to wreck just when it started to go off the road.  Tonight I had two firsts: the first time I actually witnessed a wreck, and the first time I have ever called 911.

I hope the girl wasn't seriously hurt but to often, someone gets behind the wheel of a car who has been drinking and THINKS he/she is perfectly alright but their judgement is just a little bit impaired and they do something STUPID. If drunks were just involved in single car wrecks it would be one thing but more often than not an innocent person is involved with them and usually end up hurt or killed. The bottom line...............

DON'T DRINK OR USE DRUGS AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was talking to the responding officer and was standing with help before being put down on the flatboard to go on the gurney.  I'm sure she was hurt, but at least she wasn't dead.
