That's them. Wendy Bagwell (of the 60's and early 70's Gospel group Wendy Bagwell and the Sunlighters) was the one telling the story of "Ole' Ralph Bennett's Volkswagen." My dad had several of their albums and Wendy told lot's of storys on them between songs. One that you might have heard at one time or another is "Here Comes the Rattlesnakes" . . . the story about the group going to play at an old backwoods country church . . . and right in the middle of the service they broke out the rattlesnakes. The copy I have of his Volkswagen story is an MP3 file I downloaded off the internet back in the days of Napster.
The other one was Bill Cosby from his 1968 comedy album "200 Mile Per Hour." We cut it off after the VW part, but there is another 10 - 15 minutes or so where he talks about running into Carrol Shelby and Shelby builds him a car that will do over 200 MPH . . . If you thought what you heard was funny, you have GOT to hear the rest of it!
I have both as MP3s, but they are too big for email. I'll make up a few CDs of them and bring them to our next meeting.
