Even though I was familiar with the roads in the area 30 years ago and I had printed directions from google maps, I missed 3 turns going to my brother-in-law's visitation at a funeral home in Hiram, GA a couple of weeks ago. The missed turn that threw me the most miles off course, I missed because I was looking at an old mom and pop grocery store building on the side of the road . . . it was the only thing I had recognized for miles.

I guess a lot of things can change in 30 years.

I eventually got to where I was going, but in all I went about 40 miles out of the way. Even though I like to drive and look at the scenery, at $3.50 a gallon, those wrong turns can get expensive. We've got a trip to Conneticut planned from August . . . If I can get lost on roads I know when I have directions, I don't want to think what will happen when I cross the Mason/Dixon line! So, I'm in the market for a GPS unit.
Any recommendations on units to look at or ones to stay away from? I would like to stay in the $125 or less range if there is a decent unit avalible in that range. I don't really care if it's got all the latest bells and whistles, but I would like an accurate unit and free updates on the maps.
