Uh, I can't see the head but the thing got markings like a Copperhead ( Not good) or a Corn Snake or Rat snake ( harmless).  Bottom line stay away. If its a Copperhead, keep a look out for its mate close by. They mate forever and don't piss them off.

Looks like a black king snake.  Harmless.

Of course, it could be a copper headed water rattler, those are the worst, they hide outside under your front porch, waiting for the moment to strike.   :P

Now that I have seen his head I believe you have a nice Rat snake. I use to call all those snakes King like everybody else did until I found out there no such a thing . There are black snakes(racers) big rat snakes of all colors and design and Banded corn snakes. A true King snake in these part of the country look like a Coral snake except the color bands are reversed and is small and harmless.  very rare.
S.C. Don't harm this snake . You don't have to worry about little furry creatures running about  your house with this big guy around.

I'm a big Steve Irwin fan.  I never kill snakes.  I catch em in a garbage can and let them go in the woods,   This one is gonna be hard to catch.  I think he slithered up under the Insulation under the house.  SC
