What Ever Happened To . . .

« on: February 24, 2012, 01:53:13 PM »
When I first started going to VW shows in the mid-late 90s, there used to be an older gentleman who attended a lot of them and showed a factory built tractor powered by an older air-cooled VW engine.  The tractor was painted in John Deere Green and Yellow and he used to fire it up and walk along beside it around the show grounds.  I know he attended CYW and the Southeastern Bug Fair and maybe a few others.  I had heard that he passed away a few years back, but all I know for sure is that he quit attending shows.  Does anyone know who he was, what happened to him, or what happened to his tractor?  I've been looking through my old pictures and I can't even find a picture of the machine in question.

Wish I knew. I definitely remember him at CYW riding around on his tractor.

I seem to remember a guy posting on the samba about a year and a half ago with one of those tractors.  He was REAL proud of it. It needed some parts and looked to have been left out for a while.  He was somewhere in the south east.
Any one else remember?

Add on the Samba is long gone, but here is an article by the same fella:

I recognize the tractor photos from the add.
