What color says Smelly Cat best?

« on: January 10, 2009, 07:41:26 AM »
When I repainted Stupie,  I wanted it to last for ever.  That's why no other paint but Walmart $0.99  Red would suffice.  It took 5 or 6 cans,  but it was worth it.  Most folks can't  tell its not a Professional paint job,  Alas,  Living outdoors has taken a toll from above,  and rust is taken a toll from below.

Its Winter painting time!   I might even use a gallon of enamel and a good brush from the hardware store.

I don't know if I'm depressed or moody lately, but Black is on my mind.   Are there too many black bugs in the world?  Is that Rolling Stones song playing  on a radio somewhere?  I remember a lyric  "I see a red bug and I want it painted black".

Are there Unlucky Bug colors that I should avoid?   Help me pick a the perfect Color.   SC

I'm with you.  Wally-World 99 cent-a-can red looks good new, but it fades and wears off after only 4 or 5 years!  Just look at Homer's roof!  And they will just laugh at you if you complain and ask for your money back!  :x   I've learned my lesson.  From now on I'll spend three times the money and get the good stuff . . . Krylon.  If I win the lottery, I'll get the really good stuff, but until then, Rustolium is just too darned expensive.

  You could leave the roof red and paint everything below the windows blue.  Yellow bumpers would look good with that.  Since he is a Stuper Beetle, you could go ahead and paint a red shield outlined in yellow on the hood with a red VW logo in the center . . .  :-k  Yeah, that would look good on Stupie.   8)

Hey SC,   How about a red top, blue body,  green doors, yellow bumpers(if you have any) and a big Stuper Boy logo on the hood. Lastly a crusty VW emblem on the top.

I think in 90+* weather in full sun, black would be pretty unlucky....
I say make a homer clone, It would look just great with a superman emblem, since it is a superbeetle.  Seriously, paint it like superman.  I saw one on Craigslist last year in the nashville one that had a yellow body with red fenders and a blue top with a superman logo in the back window and a superman license plate upfront.
Looked good.
I wish I still had the posting, but alas it is gone.

In day light  hours
Black cars   12% higher crash risk
Silver   11% higher crash risk
Blue cars   12% higher crash risk
Red cars   7% higher crash risk
Black cars   7% higher crash risk

At dawn of dusk  Black cars are 47% higher crash risk, grey  25%,  silver 15%

British Racing Green is for British cars, per F.I.A. rules (at least, prior to the 70s). Germany's F.I.A. color is silver, e.g. the legendary prewar Auto Union and Mercedes "Silver Arrows"-some of the first race cars to place the engine behind the driver. Can't beat tradition! Plus-B.R.G. is hard to find in a rattle can...

I had to look up Puce,  sounds pretty

Puce is a color that is defined as ranging from reddish-brown to purplish-brown, with the latter being the more widely-accepted definition found in reputable sources. Puce is a shade of red. The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) dates the use of "puce" (in couleur puce) from 1787. The word comes from French; puce literally means "flea", as the usual flea coloration is either dark reddish-brown or dark purplish-brown.

According to available sources, the etymology of "puce" is French "puce" from Old French "pulce", from Latin "pūlic-", "pūlex".

The color puce was mentioned in the Disney Pixar film Monsters Inc. The character Sulley is given by his friend Mike Wasowski a group of forms to handle. The last thing Mike says is "Leave the puce", to which Sulley comments "I have no idea what puce is." Once he goes through the paperwork he sees the puce colored form and says "Oh, so that's puce." Sulley's knowledge (or lack thereof) of the existence of the color of puce is shared by many other people who have never heard of the color.

I plan on putting this on the top of my westy soon before I put on the new seals.

Funny but it looks good for a "homebrew"
I still vote for painting it up like superman, I mean Stuperman!!!
