What are the top worst engines ever made?

I stumbled on this thread looking to see if Ford ranger v6's had any engine problems.  Maybe the link  below will work.  Beware the Mech writes with some color full lanquage.  PG13 at least

My first worst engine is the V6 that ford put in the Windstar mini vans.  Head Gasket blew at 70K and stranded millions of Moms.  Just what a  family with kids needed!   SC[/list]

Yugo ranks right up there.    This engine was "tossed" by Fiat and was given to Yugo who made it worse than Fiat ever could. If you were lucky you could maybe make 3000k before it blew up.
The 1960 VW Type-2 engine also ranks up there.   It was a 36hp engine that looked like 40 hp. It had split bearings all the way through and the thrust bearing was on the #2 main bearing saddle in the case and oil seal appeared to be about 5" in dia. This engine would lock up on the main brgs. anywhere around 6,000-20,000 K.  I think VW warr. these engines to 40,000K.  Folks in some circles called it the "Bastard". VW called them a "Reinforced 36hp" engine.

  A supervisor in our maintenance department was telling a story about Yogos this afternoon.  He said that when Yogo went under, they were selling them dirt cheap at an auction in Atlanta.  He figured he make a few quick bucks and went down and bought two of them.  These were brand new cars, not used ones . . . the head gasket blew on one of them on the way home.  Later on he was trying to push it into his garage and he slipped on some wet grass . . . the car ran over him and on the way under it he grabbed the grill, which broke right off, and he held onto the plastic bumper until the car stopped.  He said he couldn't hardly give them away . . . especially the one with a blown head gasket and broken grill.

Yugo trivia.  Instead of throw out bearing, I think I heard the Yugo had a fibrous cone that mashed on the pressure plate to disengage the  clutch,  what a piece.  SC

Zen, The Dasher was a Bentley compared to the Yugo.  I was working at Village VW when they took on Yugo as a second line.  We had one customer that took 3 trys to get off the lot in 3 different Yugo's.  As I recall the first car he took blew a rod out the side of the block in about 150'     The second car locked up the transmission in about the same distance.  The 3rd car made it off the lot at Village and got to Moore at Brainerd Rd. (about a mile) The customer stopped for the traffic light where the Yugo desided to burst into flames. He got out OK. The Yugo didn't fair as well.
"BigTony" the one and only Tech Rep east of the Miss.River didn't have a clue how that happened. I don't think that I have ever seen a car melted down that far

back in the 80's BMW  made a little car,  maybe it had a 3 in the name.   Every yuppie in Atlanta bought one.,  Something was wrong with the engine,   I remember all these brand BM'ers blue smoking around I285 or  conked out on the side of the hwy.  SC

The Peugeot/Renault/Volvo V6 - known for eating camshafts for lunch.  I recall walking into your place on Shallowford (A&D?) one day while you were working on/cussing a Volvo that had one of those in it.
