what's wrong

« on: July 01, 2009, 03:45:03 PM »
With this scenairo...I just received a call about financing a 1971 Super that's on John Ross road asking price $18000.00 completely restored except for a dent in the side and carb problems  He offered him $13,000.00 but the guy would not take it but we will only loan $8700.00. I offered to sell Him Feebs for $10,000.00 with a brand new carb but he wants one with a good paint job...HELLO paint/body work $3500.00 plus $10,000.00 equals less than $18,000.00

Everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but mine is that there isn't a Super Beetle on the planet worth $18,000!  A pristine, low milage (like under 10,000) one owner convertible that has been kept in a heated garage and never driven in the rain, original paint, interior and top in nears showroom condition . . . it's still not worth 18 grand!  Now, someone might PAY that for it, but it's not worth it.  It's got a dent . . . it's got carb problems . . . there's probably many more problems learking under that "nice" paint . . .  $5,000 tops . . . and that's pushing it.  Just my opinion, for what it's worth . . . it's probably not worth 18 grand either!

YEah...18000 is crazy!  You could buy a sweet Oval bug or Split Window bus for that.  Super beetles are not that rare to have a $$ tag of 18k      Tell him I'd sell him my oval window BUG-71k orig  miles for 10k.  I saw this bug other day...not worth 18... word of advice...dont restore something you wont be able to get yur money back out of.

Don't ever restore a car to make money . . . if you do it right, 99 times out of 100 you'll end up with more in it than you can ever hope to get back out of it.
