I have seen this happen before. Like Rick said , depending on how much fuel is in the tank and the tank is higher than the carb I have seen the fuel pressure overpower a less than perfect needle and seat in the carb and flood the engine. If the float level is set to high can cause this also when parking up hill. All this doesn't happen very often but can.
Try this . park the same way under the same conditions and before trying to start the engine ,look at the base of the carb and around the shafts and see if you can see any sign of raw gas leaking or had been leaking down. :?:
