CEO Horn said in an interview with the times free press just a few weeks ago that he didn't think the truck would be a big part of their goal to 1 million vehicles. He is crazy. I'd sell my frontier for a VW truck. The chicken tax ran VW out of the truck market back in the 60s thanks to Johnson and the UAW. If they built a truck at the chattanooga plant, they would avoid a 25% tax on light trucks. I think this CEO has no idea. He said the golf wasn't a big portion of their sales, maybe 45-55 thousand units. At the Detroit auto show, they had the Golf in multiple versions. He said their 2 SUVs are their future to get to a million, but they had ZERO SUVs at the Detroit show. Makes no sense.

Also, the S10 is gone but the canyon and Colorado are in. And with the release of the new 2015 remake, they are looking pretty good. Add in the duramax diesel that they are bringing out in 2016 and you've got a game changer. VW could bring out a VW truck with the diesel and clean house in the 4 door small pickup.

On my last trip to mx  i saw many vw truck. Especially the saveiro. I really think they are missing the point on small trucks.  Yes the colorado and canyon replace the s-10. But many other manufactures don't make small trucks any more.   I remember mitsubishi, dodge, having one,

I saw one of these in Chattanooga last night, tried to take a picture but it was super blurry. Had Michigan Manufacturers plates on it.

I think VW is missing a huge opportunity on this one. I would have LOVED to have bought a small sized pick up truck that got better gas mileage. I ended up with a nissan frontier 6 speed, which is still pretty fun and a great truck, but I would have been all over a VW truck.

Hi no it isn't a golf platform, the platform is unique and the car does not fulfill the US crash. This is what I know. The market for the small pick up is decreasing, maybe therefor they do not think about to bring it to the US. It is only the engine 2.oL TDI available which is as well to small for most of the americans. I know for sure, when I go back top Germany I will have one of these:

That's two different trucks! The one USAresident linked to looks more like the ridgeline while the one Travis posted looks like an economy sized el camino. They gotta be on different platforms!

I think they would sell in America. A lot of people want full sized trucks. A whole lot of people don't. I am in the latter category and consider my frontier a little bigger than what I initially wanted. I like the last model of Tacomas and the old hardbody nissans. I think it would work for a lot of folks.

The 4 door is awesome.
It you look at the domestic manufacturers they all have dropped their small trucks for the more profitable (for them) larger framed trucks.
I am a small 4 door truck guy, I need an automobile that will haul the kids and stuff.
I am looking at a Ford Explorer Sport track now, the ford explorer sport (SUV version) with same miles and options is ~30% cheaper in price currently and cost just as much new.  The demand is there, or the used ones would not be bringing a premium. The domestics do not want to sell small trucks because they do not make as much per unit on them. When an item has been taken off the menu, you cannot order it....
That is how they can say that demand is down.
The days of trying to satisfy the customer are over, now most auto manufacturers just produce what the bland general public will tolerate that is of the most profit to them. "you can have any color as long as it is black" ideas.
Rant over...

you find them all on the united kingdom page for VW, so you can see all different models
