If you want to buy a new VW block to build your Type 1, 2 or 3 engine with, you better do it quick.  Apparently, they ain't makin' 'em no more.

I didn't know they were still making these. Was it even possible to order one in the US?

All the new magnisium blocks on the market for the past several years came from VW of Brazil.  Once the ones on vendors shelves are gone, the only option for a new block will be one of the aftermarket aluminum blocks.  This doesn't mean that you will never be able to build a new VW engine again, just that in the near future you won't be able to base it on a real VW block . . . that and the price will probably go through the roof . . .  :-\

They have been available, Russ... but the price has already been ridiculous...

Now, I suppose they will be ludicrous...  ;D

Guess it's a good thing I picked up the ol' align bore bar... and kept a small stash of decent cases.   8)
