Up all night...

« on: October 15, 2011, 04:44:51 AM »
It is 5 am and I'm still up.
Doc has me on some roids, I am pumped and exhausted at the same time...
Oh well.

Follow directions carefully. Make sure you get sleep when you can, especially coming off of them. I was coming off steroids when I had a seizure at CYW. It was also after a night of very little sleep. Steroids also mess with your blood sugar in a bad way so keep a snickers handy if you start feeling weak. Just be careful and stay safe.

Friday night was ROUGH.  I slept litterally 1/2 hour.  I am on the steriods because of a bronchitus infection.  Breathing was a problem, coughing made me dizzy.
I skipped the roids this morning, and I have been coughing all afternoon.  It is supposed to help quell the swelling in the bronchi.
Any way, thanks for the concern, I am still sick but am feeling better.

Be careful skipping, too! roids are often given in a set number of day doses with a "day 1" pill, "day 2" pill... etc... They are to ramp you up and ramp you down. Stopping before you trail off will be a more abrupt change and cause more dramatic changes in blood sugar. If you go on them, don't stop the plan unless your doctor has plans to wean you off. They are no joke. I lost my license for 5 weeks while they waited for another episode to come up and thank goodness I didn't have another one.

KC , I just went through a bout of the same thing you are going through. I could not sleep laying down. I spent a week sitting in a chair all night long not being able to breath. I ended up as guest at Memorial Hosp. for a week two weeks ago. I now use a Ox Gen at night . At last I sleep like a rock for the first time in 6 months. My problem is related to my heart glitch . A little different than your problem I hope.  They put me on steroids and then weened me off.  DO NOT skip any or modify  . Very dangerous I was told. Hang in there.

Thanks man,
I can see that if I miss a dose, the coughing is right back...
Glad to hear that you have found a solution to your low O2 levels.
Take care,
KC
