Last Thursday, we headed to Murphy, NC to bury Linda's grandmother. After the service, we went by her old house and made a few other stops, looking at campsites along the Ocoee River, stopping to get some snacks and drinks, etc.
We were just about to come up to the 15 mph. corner on Hwy. 64, when a truck flagged us down and asked us to wait for an oversized load to make the corner. Well, we stopped and waited...and waited. Finally, another vehicle came up from behind, passed us and went up to the corner to see what was up. The semi was stuck between the guard rail on the right and the rock wall on the left. This rig was over 115 feet long and just couldn't negotiate the turn. Some people started getting flat rocks to pile up in front of the rear wheels of the trailer against the rock face. This was in order to tip the trailer away from the wall just enough for the trailer to make it past the corner. After 1 1/2 hrs. of waiting, we were finally able to leave.
Here are some pictures of the stuck truck and people helping. Of course, I had to have some fun when the pokey showed up...
