Ultrasonic carb cleaner

« on: January 16, 2016, 09:44:03 PM »
I bought an ultrasonic cleaner to clean carbs. It has a stainless steel tub, clear plastic lid, silver plastic housing and white plastic parts tray.
I placed a carb on the tray, put the tray in the tub, filled the tub with carb cleaner,
turned it on, smiled and went about my other chores.
Here's what I found out.
Carb cleaner causes the clear plastic lid to go all cloudy and stick to the plastic housing.
Carb cleaner dissolves some of the silver plastic housing.
Carb cleaner dissolves the white plastic tray.
The dissolved plastic tray coats the carb with a thin layer of white plastic.
The thin layer of white plastic is the devil to get off of the carb.
The thin layer of white plastic coats ones hands like a glove and is nearly impossible to get off as well.
Directions say to use a plastic friendly solvent.
Plastic friendly solvents don't clean carbs.
So how was your day?
