Truth in Advertising

« on: October 15, 2003, 10:50:13 PM »
Got an old junker you need to sell?
Want to make it sound as great as possible?
Want to use terms like Many NOS Parts, Mint Condition, No Rust, One Owner, etc., etc., etc., but still maintain truth in advertising?
Check out this 58 Bug on TheSamba.com:

The ad has expired.  I wish I had of copied it . . . it was funny!

Seems like it was a 63 or 64 bug in, well, less than mint condition.

The description had stuff like:
ONE OWNER sold it to someone who sold it to someone else who sold it to someone else who sold it to someone else . . .
MINT CONDITION is a term no one would ever use for this car
NO RUST has ever been repaired
MANY NOS PART have probably fallen off of it

There were lots more, but I can't remember them.
 :(

Speaking of truth in advertising . . . or of a lack of it, check out this eBay auction for a 69 Bug with original factory air and less than 50,000 miles on the "original" engine (which is completly rebuilt of course).
