TN VW tag

« on: March 30, 2010, 09:53:11 PM »
Got the 66 beetle registered today and my father asked if i got a custom plate, then he suggest that there should be a Volkswagen plate for TN.  Not a bad idea,  with the plant here that could happen,  any way if someone else thinks it a good idea and has more free time then i do maybe they could get it started

I think a VW tag is a great Idea. I know Zack, and if he is elected Governor, should be a shoe-in. He has a new CC now from Village VW.

I have looked in to what all is involved with this process and it requires getting a state senator or representative to sponsor the idea. Once voted on and passed, we would receive a package on how to arrange a preorder and design the artwork. We would have to sell 1000 plates at 35 bucks a plate for next available number or 70 for a personalized. We would have one year from the day it passes to turn in the 1000 orders.

Sounds like a great idea but I wonder if we could preorder 1000 plates. I also think we might hit a snag with either being too specific(aircooled only) and not selling enough OR being too broad and having it voted down because a vw plate might be like advertising/every make would want their own plate.

what do yall think? I'd be interested in trying if we can! Perhaps designing it for vw enthusiasts so it could go on non-vw cars( get the factory workers on board!).

a bunch of the factory workers will be driving vws, the offers are to good to pass up,  i think it would be for vw in general,  i think it would not be that hard to sell 1000.  all the hype with the plant this would be the time to do it, they are giving vw so many discount and perks everywhere else
