Timing Light

« on: March 20, 2009, 01:09:20 AM »
Ok guys i need to find a timing light. I am attempting to learn again how to set the timing etc on my carb. I have not done this sence the mid 1980's with my 1970 bug. It got hit hard by an Olds and that was it so i have not done it sence then. Does any one know where i can get an inexpensive one to use or any one have an extra one they do not need any longer laying around. ........... Rob

I bought mine at advance auto years ago, wasn't too expensive.  The key is you want one with the advance degree feature ( it will have the adjustable knob on the back of the gun) you can also find them at sears, at least you could recently because i saw them there.
The other style won't work right for you, so no sense wasting the money on one.

I bought mine at Sears about 2 year after my Snap-On snapped for the last time.   Like "Grass Hopper" said get one with the advance knob.

Bought 2 H. F. timing lights in one day.   Both of them would not read right. The one from Sears works just fine.

This is true, i have a sandblasting cabinet from there which has served me very well.  It was less than 300 bucks, as opposed to the pretty Snap on one which was a couple thousand.  Yeah, as their saying goes, there is a difference..... Of course i think i will stick with their wrenches, not the Pittsburgh stuff.

Oh, you don't want a 13.5 mm wrench?

I consider everything from HF to be disposable. They make a decent welding wire and a few good hammers to smash things with other than that it good for stuff you know you wont need very much. Wrenches from them ......uhhhhhh naw.

Bugtech made me smash mine since I did not know how to use it anyway.   I Took Stupie to Bugapalooza and BugTech set it for me 3 years ago and told me if I mess it up again he will kill me.  sc
