Where is a good snake when you need him ?

I found 2 snakes while moving some retaining wall block the other day.  They were grey with yellow bellies and a yellow ring around their necks.  I caught them and put them in the woods.  Had I known, I would have mailed them to you.

It's the rings around their neckI can't place.Other than that sounds more like a rat or chicken snake.A good snake is a dead one.The rat snakes are fairly long and large. The rattle snakes are short and fat.Of coarse the eyes and tail will let you know.

Harmless Garter snake. Not much of a rat "getter".   Sure enough Rat snakes can be many colors and can be as long as 3-4 feet. A good guy to have around if you have a rat or poisoness snake problem. They are constricters and will kill a Copperhead in a New York min. I watched this happen years ago in my back yard. Something to see belive me. They will bite the hell out of you if mess with them.
  Please don't kill these guys.

Good for you Travis for turning those Guys loose. :thumbs-up:

I just don't like snakes.Sure I would rather have a non poisonious snake kill a poisoious one. There was one(rat snake)in the garage several month's ago and it had crawled behind some boxes.Son in law and I saw it go in there and went to get it out and it was really P.oed.It went for both of us.I went in one side and son in law went in from the other and it actually chasing us into the yard.We were running like two little girl scout's  It was a large one.About the size of your wrist.I didn't know a garter snake had bands.Of coarse I don't study them either when I'm on the run

There is a hundred different kinds of Garter snakes as well as Rat snakes. Leave them alone unless they get in bed with you then you are on your own.
