That Was Too Close For Comfort!

« on: January 30, 2013, 06:07:18 PM »
I was teaching a class to day at work and got a text message just before lunch.  I waited until lunchtime to read it.  It was from Justin and said "Talked to mom. She's OK but stuck in Adairesville."   ???  OK, I know she was filling in for someone at the Vulcan quarry in Adairesville, but I didn't have a clue what the text was all about.  Turns out they had to hide in the tunnel under the crusher twice today.  They were close enough that they could see the tornado on the ground as they were leaving the scale house heading for the tunnel the first time.  After they were finally able to leave the quarry this afternoon, she said it took over an hour winding through a bunch of back roads to get from Adairsville to Resaca.  She said trees and powerlines are down everywhere and there is lots of flooding on top of the wind and tornado damage.

She made it home safely, but there are lots of folks down that way that could use your prayers.

One of Joy's co-workers snapped this shot of the tornado as they were about to head for shelter.
