Temporary Shutdown @ Wolfsburg

« on: December 02, 2008, 10:28:42 PM »
When we were at the dealership for the blood drive Monday, I asked them how their business was holding up.  I was told it was probably their worst November ever.  They aren't alone!  According to this article on NewsChannel9.com, VW is going to shut down production at Wolfsburg for 3 weeks.

And yet, you don't hear about VAG begging the German government to bail them out.

They're already partly owned (20.1%) by the German state of Lower Saxony.

I hope the Wolfsburg workers are getting some Christmas money in this deal from VW. I'm sure just not opening at the doors will save a lot of money without "laying off" or somesuch its employees.

We read an interesting editorial in the paper this morning about a solution to the bailouts of the auto companies.  Let the oil companies with all their huge profits from the past few quarters give them the money to keep building the gas guzzler cars to keep folks buying their gas.  Sounds like a no brainer...

That would be to easy! And the oil company's will probably be asking for some money soon also! Ya know they aren't making as many billions as they where now that prices are down!
