VW should have kept their mouths shut about the TDI fuel milage.  This will allow the oil company's time to "Jack " the prices up on fuel so it would cost just as much to drive a TDI as it would a Hummer.
      Even with that I would rather drive a TDI and wouldn't have to stop as offened to "fill up" or charge a boat load of batteries.
