A steam engine would have to be cheap to build compaired to a modern internal combustion engine . . . what did it say it had?  24 moving parts in the entire drive train?  Most modern internal combustion engines have that many moving parts in one cylinder!  And as big and heavy as it was, it got 15 MPG on kerosene and without even trying, it meets modern California emmisions standards.  Something to think about for sure!   8)
And that was about 9 cents a gal.  You forgot that it also could go 1500 miles on 17 gals of water. To bad we don't share Bill Gates and Warren Buffets money but then we would have to hire a bunch of mercenary's to protect us from the Fed's, the oil companies and auto folks and would have to live in a Fortress and couldn't go to "Wally World" until after dark

Does anyone go to Wally world BEFORE dark? It's a lot more fun after sundown ;D
Not me. Thats when the "Un-Kept" chicks with big hair creep in driving red clay covered  black Trans-Am's  with one-eye on. To scary for me :o :o

I'm going old school steam power.
1.  Obtain pressure cooker at Goodwill for 7 bucks
2.   JP weld  a  flex steam line hose to it some how
3.   I forgot #3
4.   Fill Pressure cooker with H2o. place on propane camper stove,  boiler water
5.   Figure out how to make a cam that does the valves right

How hard would it be to make the valves open and close ?   By hard ,  I mean would it cost a lot?  SC
