I have been preaching about this for years. just didn't have enough " grey matter'' or money.
www.cyclonepower.com      I wonder if these people know that their lives could be in danger for inventing this product. Look at all headings and watch the videos.  To heck with Hybrids,Electric

That's a neat idea..I'd like to see how they can improve it and what applications it has.. Seems a bit inefficient as of right now. But being an engineer, I'm sure I'll hear of it again in the future.

I'm sure you will if the Fed's and the Big-3 will leave them alone.  You must not have read all the info on the whole site and you need to read about steam power  in general.

OK  Click on Google and type  in Doble steam car.  Scan down to "The last Great Steam Car"  Damn Interesting.   Be sure to read the whole thing.   Being  a steam nut for years ,I have known about the Doble for a long time and how it performed.    You will be surprised.

One of Joy's uncles had 2 Stanley Steamers in his fairly extensive car collection.  When he passed away a few years back his kids sold off his collection as soon as they left the graveyard.  The Stanleys were very interesting cars . . . I'd love to see one of the Doble's cars in person!

It would be interesting to try to build a modern steam car . . . a Bay Window Bus would make a good platform . . .

I hope you read that article that I just posted off of Googel.   Everybody seems to be afraid of boiler explosions.  The fact is no Stanley or Doble boiler ever blew up. Only "water tube" and "fire tube" boiler blew(loco's, etc)  . On a Stanley and Doble the boiler was a "Flash type" Another words they were nothing but a coil of tubing. You would put the heat to one to get her hot and then inject a small amount of water and you got instant steam/pressure.  "Flash type" boiler could blow a tube and nothing would happen except a high pressure leak like a blown hose. Company's still make those but they call them Steam Generators now.  The last of the Dobles could get steam up in 40sec and could go from 0  to 75 mph in 10sec and be only turning 900 rpm when it got to 100 mph READ ABOUT IT.  This was a big heavy car. The engine was a "Boxer 4 cylinder compound ( 2 hi press cyl and 2low press. cyl) with piston valves and was connected directly to the diff. No tranny or driveshaft.   Not bad for the 1930's

Thinking about converting a VW type -1 engine to steam would be a big problem . Valving would have to be changed and even after that you would only have a single acting engine with power coming on the down stroke(like it is now) All IC engines are single acting.  Most steam engines are double acting ,power on the down stroke and power on the up stroke. Double your pleasure ;D ;D

A steam engine would have to be cheap to build compaired to a modern internal combustion engine . . . what did it say it had?  24 moving parts in the entire drive train?  Most modern internal combustion engines have that many moving parts in one cylinder!  And as big and heavy as it was, it got 15 MPG on kerosene and without even trying, it meets modern California emmisions standards.  Something to think about for sure!   8)

And that was about 9 cents a gal.  You forgot that it also could go 1500 miles on 17 gals of water. To bad we don't share Bill Gates and Warren Buffets money but then we would have to hire a bunch of mercenary's to protect us from the Fed's, the oil companies and auto folks and would have to live in a Fortress and couldn't go to "Wally World" until after dark
