It's a real shame that there are people in this world sorry enough to try to exploit storm victims, but there are. If you see or hear of any scams or suspicious activities like these, please report them to authorities so they can be dealt with.  Or as one of my friends on Face Book said, show the autorities where their bodies are . . .

There have already been at least two arrested in Dade County for stealing copper wiring out of storm damaged houses.  There have also been reports of people "volunteering" to clear downed trees then trying to bill the land owner for their services after the fact.  And after the clean up is done, be on the lookout for shady contractors that will, no doubt, come out of the wookwork and try to make some fast money at the expense of the storm victims.   >:(

Unfortunately you will see lots of this, disasters bring out the best and worst of people. I'm glad Ringgold has kept the city on lockdown most of the time, it prevents gawkers and also looters/scammers out. Lots of people coming offering tree service, contract work, etc. and then turn around and send victims a jacked up bill. I've also heard shortly after the tornado someone broke into the chiropractic office and stole medical records, presumably for ID theft. Also heard people stole TVs and computer equipment from the high school after it was damaged.

My aunt in law is the Vice principal of RHS and she slept in the ruins of the office of the HS the night of the tornado to protect the paperwork of the students so no foolishness would occur...
She is about 200 Lbs and has a black belt.
As far as I know she had no problems.

Good for her.  Sometimes and old fashioned a**-whipping is all people understand.  I hate people who prey on others at the weakest moment.  And it seems to be a story you hear more and more these days.
