Joy can't get off work, so it looks like I'm going to FL Bug Jam alone this year. I've been planning on taking the bus but I got to thinking (I know, I know. That was my first mistake!) . . . but I've already taken the bus to Florida just hours after I got the engine in and running . . . Why not try something "challenging" this year.
I've got this old Manx (clone) fiberglass buggy out back . . . just needs and engine and a nosecone on the tranny (and wiring, headlights, patches on the floors and a few other minor details). I've got the engine (yeah, the one I'm "suppose" to be putting back in the bus) and I've got a good (according to the guy I bought it from) 67 tranny . . . All I'll need to buy is headlights . . . maybe a little fiberglass to stop the air from coming up through the passenger floor (or where the floor used to be). And after all, it's FLORIDA Bug Jam . . . and I don't have to worry about any passengers giving me a hard time about how STUPID I am for driving a ragged out dune buggy 1200 miles in November . . .
Oh yeah, it needs brakes. Maybe it isn't such a good idea . . . to patch the floors I mean.
What do you think? You don't think I'll do it? Didn't you think that about the bus last year? I know I CAN do it . . . I'm just trying to figure out if I really want to . . . and in a brief moment of sanity I'm kind'a hoping someone will talk me out of even thinking about it any more! :p
