This is the verbiage we use to define the two:

Quote
Stock - For the most part, the vehicle is basically as it left the factory (Restorations OK). No body modifications. Any replacement parts should have a stock appearance. Vehicle may have mild custom modifications as listed below.

Paint and Body - Does not have to be the original color, but must not distract from a stock appearance (Maximum 2 colors, no heavy metallics, flames, etc.). Must have original style trim and bumpers.
Wheels/Tires - Common styles of aftermarket wheels OK as long as tires remain near stock size. Very slight lowering allowed.
Interior - Must have stock style seat covers, door panels, dash. Aftermarket stereo system allowed (as long as it does not distract from an otherwise stock appearance).
Engine - Stock to very slightly modified. Dual carbs, common styles of aftermarket exhaust systems OK.

Custom - Anything that doesn't fit in a stock class.

For the most part, stock appearance is what we go by. Some leeway is acceptable as you can tell from our guidelines. A description of your car and a photo would help if you want us to let you know before you register. And our judges do reclass cars if they feel like they are in the wrong class, so don't worry. We look forward to having you in April!

Thanks ....I did see the stock class info on web page...there are a few things I still wonder about like after market steering wheel??   engine dress up chrome ect.??   after market radio speakers??   after market horn like air horn ect.??  These things are not listed on stock class..  It states anything not listed on stock info is custom.. just a thought... thanks

Can you post a couple photos? There is an additional options just below the text box when you reply. Click it and "Choose file" to upload a photo.

Most all of the things you mentioned don't typically detract from a stock appearance on a beetle. If that's all the modifications you have, I would say you can still probably compete in stock. A photo would help for sure though, it's difficult to say exactly which class without seeing it.
