Secret Society or parking pass? What does it mean?

« on: August 14, 2005, 08:16:18 AM »
I keep seeing a sticker or even front license plate on vehicles that must have some kind of meaning. It is flag-shaped and divided horizontally into thirds with (top to bottom) a black stripe, then blue, and another black. I see it in areas other than Chattanooga, too.

Anyone know what this is? Masonic? De Colores? Gay Pride? Amway? Stonecutters?

If it is a black tag with a blue stripe from side to side it means they are a cop. Red stripe there a fireman. Green stripe means there EMS. :D

I've even seen those black/blue/black stickers on vehicles owned by "friends" or family of cops.  Linda worked with a lady whose husband was in the Georgia chapter of FEMA (called GEMA).  He used to be a cop, but this sticker was displayed on both his and her car.
He said that it usually meant "Don't pull me over...I'm a cop."  [-X

:thumbs-up: You are correct Jason. The blue signifies the "Thin Blue Line" associated with law enforcement. There are some knock offs out there. The first I knew of for law enforcement came from a guy in south Georgia if I remember correctly. It was the small ones you would see on bumpers. He only sold them to certified law enforcement officers who produced a departmental ID and badge.

I never had one on my vehicles when I was active in law enforcement. And if other officers thought about it they would not either.(IMHO) I mean why not just put a bulls eye between your eyes and a sign that says shoot me.   Lets face it, there are lots of people who hate cops. Why make yourself a highly visible target on the roadway?? I never understood the ones that had the FOP tag, stickers, COP tag, etc on their cars. I was not ashamed, just wanted to live a little longer!!!
