SCVF vs. MTVWC

« on: January 26, 2007, 11:01:23 PM »
What's up everybody? I am a member of MTVWC and also one of the recently elected activities coordinators. I've been toying with the idea of organizing some sort of cruise-in with Scenic City Volks Folks and the Middle Tn. VW Club. I have no game plan as of yet but the general idea would be for both clubs to meet somewhere between Nashville and Chattanooga. I'm pretty sure there is a drive-in movie theater in Lewisburg we could check out or a mexican restaurant or Sonic or something. MTVWC is also planning a cruise to Fall Creek Falls which is near Spencer Tn. if anyone is interested in coming up, it will be a BYOP (bring yer own picnic) hang out session. Anyways, just wanted to let ya'll know we're thinking about you guys and we're always thinking about VWs, so the more the merrier and if anyone has any ideas how to get these clubs more involved with each other just throw them out on the table! Whatdayathink?

Hey, I'm up late!

I like the idea.  Come up with the specifics for us and I'm sure there will be other biters on the idea.

Thanks!

I like the idea too!  Keep us informed on the plans and we'll toss out any ideas we come up with as well.   :D

I'm glad you guys are interested. Do ya'll get together on a regular basis, you know like monthly meetings or cruise-ins and such? I'm just wondering how many people might show up if we do get something rolling.

Yes we do have a monthly meeting and a monthly cruise-in.  On the first Friday of the month we have a cruise-in (this month the second Friday because Dead of Winter Campout is on the first Friday).  When the weather is nice we will meet at a local Sonic.  When it is not we find an indoor restaurant that will fit us in.  On the third Monday of the month we have our monthly meeting at the China Moon Buffet (in the Eastgate Town Center on Brainard Road) in Chattanooga.  All are welcome.

It just depends on what and where.  We usually try to get together and caravan to shows together.  Sometimes there is just a few cars and sometimes it looks like a parade.  A lot of us have Westys so we try to do a lot of camping.

Just bumping this thread back to the top as it has come to my attention that some other Vdubbers have the same idea! Several www.mtvwc.com members will be crashing this too!

Wish I could take credit for this, but I'll be happy to attend!

Folks , This one of the best Ideas I have heard about in a long time. This is one of the reasons Linda and I are in a mad rush to get Albert the Allison buggy on the road fully loaded with creature comfort Goodies. I drove a Manx buggy to Nova-Scotia, Key West , Outer Banks of N.C. back in the '60s and I could sure as heck tour Tn. or anywhere else for that matter when we get up and running.  I can think of a heck of a lot of places  worth going to look at in Tn. alone We are slowly getting there

You better belive it was fun, fun, fun.  The only time it got seriously scary was when we had just got on the Geo.Washinton bridge in New York City at 5:00 pm in the middle lane and broke a thottle cable. Would you belive that 3 lanes of traffic stopped and let us push the Manx over to a very tiny "turn out" and with my Arse hanging  almost out in the traffic, replaced the cable. Who says those Yankee folks can't be nice
This was the only problem we had on the whole 2 week trip.
