Hello everybody,
I just got an e-mail from Kathy Jacobs saying that our show report on BP3 is in the March issue of VW Trends!  She says that she hasn't seen it yet, but she was told by VWT that it was in there.

Let us know how it is, whoever sees it first! :thumbs-up:

:D  COOL!  :D
It's pretty good timing too!  It's not so far before the show that folks will forget about it and not so close that they don't have time to plan on coming!

I've let my subscription run out so I'll have to wait until it hits the news stand.  I can't wait to see it!

They have most of the magazine posted on their web site each month . . . February is up right now, but it's been there a while, so keep an eye on VWTrendsWeb.com.  It should be posted there soon.

We got ours Friday, so watch your boxes!

Wow, my name finally in a VW magazine, and it's for "Roughest Veedub Running"!  All I can say is, you should have seen it BEFORE it was running! :turn:

Neat article!  Go us! :thumbs-up:

I felt the article was well written but have mixed feelings about the article as a whole. They left out our web address???? :lookaround:

hmmm...

no web site address.
no color at all
questionable layout

well, at least we are in there.
maybe we should see what kind of coverage hotvws will give us if we give them the exclusive. it may be too late this year, but next year for bp.5 we should explore other options.

from what i've heard, vw of america is very picky about what they put in their official publications (VWDriver) and guess what? we are in VWDriver as one of only 2 listed for 2002.
and they put our web site in it. we have had numerous responses from people seeing it in VWDriver and it has also generated several emails thru the web site.

sometimes it may be better to have no presence in a publication (VWTrends) if they are not willing (anxious) to show us and our festival in a good light.
when people are perusing the mags and see our article and compare it to little one day shows that only have half the turnout we do, they see color and good layout in a little event and then see our article with poor layout and no color and think we must be less of an event.

the article itself seemed great. just incomplete and colorless.

One of the letters I got out of our mailbox today reads as follows...

"Hey guys!
Saw your show in March 2002 VW Trends and would like to show in April 2002.  We are members of the Midsouth VW Club in Memphis.  Please send registration forms and info about this show and any others you know of.  We have family in Cleveland, TN.
Thanks,
Camille and Grandma"

Well, it came from an old Irish proverb, but I wouldn't be surprised if both of them had used it at some point!  Hey!  New smileys!

:spank: Notice the guy (girl, whatever) is smiling!?!
 :monkeytwister: walking the stripe

:beerchug:

:monkeydance: walking the stripe after evening at Durty Nelly's!

But I digress...

I am sorry that the coverage was in Black and White, as you know I have no control over
how it turns out after it leaves my hands!
I couldn't have done it without you guys providing me the info! As you noticed in
there it did have you all down as the contributors!
It isn't like VWT thought your show was lesser than any other show, for them to place it in
b/w, it didn't have nothing to do with that. They only have so much they can place in
color and the rest has to be b/w.
I did notice it had some typos in the captions under the pictures, I apoligze for that. I sent them with the correct ones and they just got them mixed up.
Overall, I just hope you all and the rest of the spectators, show participants and vendors liked the article and it makes more people aware of the Southeast scene!

I think the free publicity for Volks Folks was better than a stick in the eye.... :mecry:

maybe next time we can get on the cover? :sarcasm:

Once again Kathy, THANK YOU!

We probably wouldn't have gotten anything in the magazine without your help!  Yeah, it'd be great to make the cover (but that ain't gonna happen) or have a bigger spread with color . . . but like Travis said, at least we're in there!

If I ever pick up a copy of Trends and we are on the cover my eyes will pop out of my head . . . something like this --  slam
