Saturday Help

« Reply #15 on: March 07, 2009, 04:41:26 PM »
Ok guys i have the correct intake on ( looks great ). The wire cluster behind the doghouse fixed. The correct valve covers on ( no oil drip ). I also have break lights now and blinkers work. I got the rebuild on the needed areas of the 30 pic carb done and installed. Now all i have to do is get the new distributor out of the box and get that installed so i can get it running correctly. It all starts up and runs now but the idle still can not stay where it should ( but it starts and runs ). After that i need to get Scott to slam the front end for me...........  ..............Just kidding ......

Now you're talking... by the way, don't forget the valve adjustment if you haven't already taken care of that.  I've seen a lot off people throw parts at an engine, and their only problem was a mix of too loose / too tight valves..
Oh, and if you want that front end slammed, it will only happen if we dump the rear too. 8)

I will definately make sure that the valves are done also when i get help with the distributor instalation. As for the slaming the bug, i would like just a small bit in the front because all the speed bumps ( mounds ) on my road to slow traffic will scrape the bottom off the bug ( ask Scott ). But if there is a rule here about doing just front ends  :D then i will keep it stock looking.......

kewl, thanks for the info and the link. $170 bucks is not bad. To bad i can not find a used set for cheaper around here that some one wants to sell. I would love to get Roadkill fully running and those put on by Bugapalooza next month.

Hard to find them used, buy em new. There not too hard to do Make sure to ask them about the correct bearings and seals for you car. It varies a lil bit year to year and stock ones sometimes wont work. Just call them and check 1st.
