A little tip. Deal with your loose front end soon as possible. You may have one little part that is the problem , but if you let it go it will compound the problem by shaking everything else loose.(if its not already) There is a lot of expensive "stuff" on the Super front end. You really need to put the car on a lift so you can check things out. Some parts are hard to check out sitting on the ground with the weight of the car on them. Have fun!!

I guess that probably goes for warped disc brakes, too, huh?

Well, I can`t say that a warped rotor would tear up the front end if you are talking about Juan or your Westy unless it is shaking while you are driving down the road. If this the case,I would look at balance, bent rim , alignment. etc. Steering damper if it starts shaking after hitting a  pot hole, speed hump and stuff like that. Most of the time a warped rotor can be felt in the pedal when using the brakes. We use to call it "Stop light pulsation". Some rotors can have a "hard spot" in the casting and can keep bouncing even after you have had it machined. All you can do then is to replace the rotor. Of course we are assuming that you don`t have a sloppy and loose front end to begin with.

Naw, it's definitely the rotors.  It's the second set of Mexican rotors to warp on me in a short time.  Juan has two-piece front brakes so you take the rotor off the hub.  I'm tempted to look into a set of Ghia rotors if they'll fit on the spindle!

I have not looked at the Mex.disc brake set up. Im curious if a Rabbit/Golf /Jetta rotor would be the same. The disc mount on the hub like your Bug.

I've been wondering the same thing!  I've got the part number around here somewhere, does anyone have a way to look it up?

Let me know what the part # is and I will check with Jim L.  He has part # for watercooled stuff. If we have a problem with numbers, I could get hold of some "used up" rotors to compare. I think that if you try to change over to Ghia "stuff" you might have to change spindles and calipers. I don`t know. God only knows what the Mexicans did or if they had a different numbering system.
