Root Canal

« on: May 06, 2011, 09:09:15 AM »
I woke up and noticed a slight pain from hot and cold things. I detoured by the dentist on my way to work. They sent me to a specialist who said I need a root canal. I'm sitting in the chair about to get the shot... HELP ME!!!

Its time to break out that bottle of "Jack" . You will also learn to love soft scramble eggs. Been there done that. Be careful not to chew on that flapping thing in your month that you use so well. Same for your cheeks (The ones on the side of your head dummy) ;D ;D until those great drugs wear off.

The root canal is the easy part.  It's having your maouth forced open and so wide for such a long time that kills you.

And yes, try not to bite your tongue off.

Good luck.

The root canal and having you're mouth forced open and even chewing on your tongue aren't near as bad as paying the bill!   :o

You're right, Zen.  THAT pain often lasts far longer than any mouth pain you might have.   :P

This wasn't my first one;  I just didnt expect it when I woke up this morning. My tongue is very numb right now and I cant talk to well. As for the bill.... insurance will cover half of it and the other half is up to me. So im only in for half of the $1200.

$600 is twice what I paid for my Dasher, and I drove it every day for 2 and half years!  But then you can't really put a price on being able to chew a good steak.   ;)

I'll be fine. The dentist I went to for the last root canal was closed on Fridays (lucky..) so I went to a new one on Gunbarrel. That dude was like a damn nascar pit crew. The numbing part went kinda slowly, but when we started drilling, it was about 45 minutes. I fell asleep through a lot of it, but I do recall hearing the impact drill and them throwing little resistor looking things all around with smooth hand offs. It was crazy fast paced. I hope it was done right! Within about 2 hours, I swung by the dentist, was referred to a second specialist (endodontist or something) and was walking out with one less tooth nerve.

If I had to choose between a sore tooth and TWO dashers, I think I'd keep the sore tooth.

I have had the unique pleasure of more than one root canal... damn my weak enamel.... Just had a pulp done the other day, soon to be another canal / crown sampler platter.   ::)

Didn't hold... I evidently did shatter the entire tooth.  the dentist was hoping that we could save it.  But, earlier today, I must have pushed my luck chewing on a saltine cracker and the entire side of the tooth came out....   >:(
