roll or brake

I have this theory that I tell my kids.  If you going to roll over a big bump or ladder in  road.  or a bad railroad crossing.   Brake hard before you hit  it,  then release  and roll over it hard..    Is this sound advice?  SC    Im not sure if this applies to bodies,  but it might

The braking would slow you down before impact, and I would think it would do less damage to the vehicle (and ladder . . . or body) if the wheels were rolling free when you hit, so yeah, I guess it's sound advice.  Of course, it would be better advice to tell them not to run over ladders and such, but if ya gott'a hit 'em . . .   8)

Do you do this on speed humps and curbs ?   Slam on the brakes then release and hit the hump and curbs at speed ?   At least you would be "checking" out your already bad ball joints, shocks, tires and other front  end parts. Sounds like it would be a real clever thing to do ??? ??? . Like Zen said  Of course you could avoid the ladder in the road  :-\

On the way to this water hole in the triangle there are some woop de doos on it . After one of these , there is a rock the size of a turned over boot embedded in the unpaved road.  after the rock, there is a 35 foot oil stain from folks smashing their oil pan upon landing. SC
