Road Trip!

« on: December 10, 2012, 07:07:10 PM »
Anyone want to go to Pull-A-Part next Saturday morning?  Weather.com says Atlanta is going to be 60 degrees, cloudy with a 20% chance of rain Saturday.  There are LOTS of water-cooled VWs and a few air-cooled on the Atlanta lots right now.

Interested. Let's do it!
I owe you a ride any way.
How many are you wanting to visit?
Meet me over here at the Food lion and we can leave your s-10 there.
Thanks,
KC

Man... I want to go but I have to graduate...

I have started talking to a guy in Cumming about trading my dual sport bike for a rail and he asked me if I'd be down there this weekend.... I'm feeling called to play hooky one last time!!!

The green machine is a crew cab, I think we could squeeze one more in.
But you do need to graduate!
I'm with ya, but I do not get done until July '13.  Then I can come to more than just one meeting a year.. oh wait, I missed this months...
Well there's next year...

Pull me a turbo for the Volvo SW.  I wish I could go.  I love the smell of junk yards in the morning.   Sc

This isn't a radio station, we do not take requests...
 ;D
I am going to be looking for a TDI and wiring harness, or a 1.8 with the CIS system.

Yeah, I gots to graduate. Too much time invested in this one (oddly enough, very little money- I actually made money from grad school!) I guess I did have to buy the graduation attire, so I am at least $100 vested in this ceremony. Either way, I have to go.

I really want to go to Pull-A-Part though...

Let's meet over in Varnell at the Food Lion.
We can all go down together.
I just had the truck checked out (Spicer's) and there are allot of worn items, but nothing in immanent failure mode.

Double check those two beetles in the east lot for Sunroofs!  And if the '66 still has any parts on it, see if it has the spacers in the rear hubs (and not pitted!)

If the 72 bay has a decent windshield, sliding door interior panel, or anything else cool, I would be interested. I might have to run down there just for fun in the next week or so.

Also, peek at the two '88 isuzu troopers at the North and South (if you make it there) lots to see if they are 4 cylinders or V6s and let me know if you could!

I got my graduate degree "in absentia". Where was I? Parked in the camping area in Sevierville! Priorities, man!

OK, Going to have to be a party killer here, but I had another suspension place look at the truck and it WAY worn out. to the tune of ~$1K in cost. They convinced me that it is not stable enough to make a long run to Atlanta. I was so impressed with what they showed me that I made a deposit on parts today.
I've got it scheduled to be repaired next week, so if we wanted to go the 22nd, I'm game.
This saturday I am going to have to pass though.
Sorry Zen, but I do not like to stand out waiting for a tow truck with friends, kinda kills the mood.
Let me know if you guys want to reschedule.

I wouldn't mind a reschedule. Don't know when I could go, unless we leave early and get back mid-afternoon/early evening. I have to be somewhere at 5pm on 22nd- and I have to be clean.

I hate to be a party pooper as well, but it is what it is.

I appreciate it, but I hear it needs an alignment.... LOL.
I really like this truck, or I wouldn't be putting the effort into getting it fixed.
all the tie rods, ball joints, etc. on the front are just plain worn out.
The rear tie rods (yes, it has 4 wheel steering) are worn and the outer passenger's is really worn (started pop-ing).
But as I stated, I really love this truck.
