Anybody have any books they would recommend for VWs or car restorations in general?  I'm trying to build a small library of resources while I wade through the title and registration process :?

Thanks!

Any new Bug/bus owner needs to read    "Nine Lives Later" by William Post. This was published in '65.   Its in a big paperback edition now.  No restoration stuff but is got to be one of best books on the history about the develoment of the Bug including military stuff from WW-2. Lots of photos . You can find it on-line and at Amazon.com. I have a first edition hard-back that was given to me by Dan Clippinger (my Boss) at Southland VW in '65. A real treasure to me
I have a lot of good books on the VW, but this book has to be # 1 on the early days.
Oddly enough I think Nine Lives was only the second book written about VW history at that time, "Small Wonder" being the first but not as good but needs to be read also.
Have fun and if you need some help don't hesitate to ask for it.  There are lots of good people and info here.
Oh, One other thing.  Seeing that you are the "New Guy",   Be prepared for a little kidding and abuse( all in fun of course) as you find your way around your new "Critter". Nobody is safe here

How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive by John Muir should be on your list, it's every bit as entertaining as it is informative. Also having the Official Service Manual by Bentley is essential if you plan on doing anything major, plus maybe a Haynes manual. If you plan on doing anything to the engine, How to Rebuild Your Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engine is a great book. You might also want to check out some of the Bug Me Videos.
