Recognition from The Big Show - John Boy and Billy

I'm sure not all of you are Red Neck enough to listen to John Boy and Billy in the mornings on 106.5 radio. They have several contests each morning and one of their contests made the statement that Fords Model T was the greatest selling car until 1972 when this car surpassed the Ford's sales.

Which car surpassed Ford's sales you ask???????

                   VOLKSWAGEN

Like you didn't already know the answer.

I've heard them use VW trivia on other contest in the past also.  Which came first, the Beatle's first US consert or a keyed passenger side door handle on a Beetle?  Is one that I remember, and I know I've heard others.  Also, I know that I've heard Robert D. Rafford (their grumpy old f@*t commentator) talk about owning at least one old air-cooled Beetle . . . I think he owns several.

Hummm . . . maybe we could the Big Show to mention Bug-A-Paluza on the air?  Couldn't hurt to ask, could it?  Just don't send an e-mail to Rafford asking him . . . If you're going to ask him, WRITE the letter, SIGN it, put your return address and a phone # in it, send it by the US Post Office, or you can forget having him even look at it.  Grumpy old men are like that!   :D

Robert D ownes a white convertible old beetle and just sold his 98 white new beetle because he read that it was voted the number 1 chic car.  He said he loved his new beetle but didn't like it anymore since it was a chic car.   :(

Bet you can't guess WHICH Volkswagen currently holds the production record, and, no, it's not the Beetle!

It seems like I've read somewhere that the Golf (originally sold as the Rabbit here in the states) has surpassed the Beetle production numbers by several million.  Actually I think there is even a TOYota or Nissian vehicle that has surpassed the Beetle's record . . . but how many MAJOR platform changes have those cars gone through?

A 1938 pre-production Beetle body will fit on 2002 Beetle chassis.  How many vehicles have been in production for over 60 years without a major change in shape or size?
