Photo-op for our Busses - At Stevenson show

« on: June 02, 2002, 12:31:38 AM »
A guy contacted me a while back about VW busses in our area for him to photograph for a book he is putting together for Motorbooks International.  He had made several books, mostly on NASCAR and others, but now he is working on a Bus book.

I told him that at least 3 of our Westys and possibly a Splittie from our club will be at the Stevenson show.  He said that he would probably come out there to shoot some photos.

So...if you would like to have your bus "possibly" pictured in a book, there's a chance that it will happen this weekend.
Also, he said that he could probably come up this way (he lives a little ways down in GA) to shoot some photos.

His name is William Burt and his phone # is (256) 236-0900 (he told me to spread the word, along with his telephone #). :thumbs-up:

If this photo-op pans out maybe someone can talk the guy out of a book for the club so that you can have something to look back at . :thumbs-up:

:lookaround:  hummm . . . Guess I better hide Homer this weekend.  He said he don't mind getting his picture taken, but he doesn't want it to show up in book next to buses with nice paint jobs.  He has a big ego for such an ugly bus!

What?  Your bus doesn't talk to you???  They are shy and nocturnal creatures by nature.  Try driving it on a deserted road late at night . . . and don't wait for it to start the conversation.  Ask it how it feels and what it's thinking.  Just be warned, once you get a conversation started, people are going to think you are crazy.

If you have a 4-tip Monza style muffler on your bus and don't close the back hatch good, does Carbon Monoxide leak into the cab?   :turn:

Zen I think your bus would make a good addition to the book 90% of the buses drivin around the world aren't exactly show quality.  He might even make the cover (or centerfold) page.  I think it would be neat if we all made the book.

I don't think I've talked to my lawn mower in years.  In fact, I'm not sure I even own one.  I figured out how to cure my grass problem . . . just park lots of non-running VWs on top of it.  If sunlight can't get to the ground, the grass won't grow!  Now if could only convence Joy of the logic behind that . . .

"If you've ever moved a junk Beetle and found a lawn mower, you might be a redneck!"  No, that's not right, stratch that.
"If you've ever moved a junk Beetle and found a lawn mower, you probalby don't need a lawn mower . . . but if you've got room to move a junk Beetle, you do need more junk Beetles!"

:yinyan:

As for Homer making the cover or the centerfold . . . Homer told me he doesn't care anything about getting his picture in a book, his main concern is to just getting to Stevenson!   :alien:
