Ooltewah Soldier killed in Iraq - Linda's 2nd cousin

« on: May 25, 2007, 01:38:06 AM »
PFC. Travis Haslip was one of six soldiers killed by a roadside bomb on Saturday in Baghdad, Iraq.  He was Linda's cousin's stepson.  Funeral to be held at Heritage Funeral Home with interment at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
The last time I saw Travis was a few years ago and he was still just a kid.  Heck, he was still just a kid when he died.

Travis, please pass our condolances on to the family.

Every time we sit around and gripe about how bad things are in this country, we should stop and THANK GOD for the kids that are willing to go into harms way and risk loosing their lives so that we will have the opportunity to gripe (out loud and in public if we so desire) about the high price of gas and how ignorant some of our political leaders can be.

From the begining, our freedom has never been free.  It has been bought with the blood of young men like PFC. Travis Haslip.  :salute:

My emphasis added on the politicians.

I agree 100% with you Zen. May God give the family the strength they need to make it through this. PFC Haslip I thank you for the freedom me and my family have. Let us never forget your ultimate sacrifice.

Remembered in our thoughts and prayers, from
your extended family at North Alabama VW. It's
important to remember that we are a free nation,
not a free-of-cost nation.

I cannot imagine the sorrow and heart break the famlys and love ones go though when they lose someone so young for such a poor reason. PFC Haslip chose this path and made the ultimate sacrifice for his God and country and the rest of us.
I can only echo all that has been said above.
Rest easy PFC Haslip and Thank You. :salute:
